Indiana’s own home-recording guru Mike Detmer made one of the best albums of the year (more on that later).

But we’re here to find out what his favorite 2009 albums were to listen to?

Let’s see.

Mike Detmer’s Favorite Albums Of 2009

8.  Rainwater Cassette Exchange — Deerhunter

7. In Prism — Polvo

6. Farm — Dinosaur Jr.

5. Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix — Phoenix

4.  The Pains Of Being Pure At Heart — The Pains Of Being Pure At Heart

3. Post-Nothing — Japanadroids

2. Album — Girls

1. Watch Me Fall — Jay Reatard

** Favorite song by far:  Bradford Cox / Panda Bear — “Walkabout” **

– Mike Detmer

Now of course he won’t mention it on his list because he’s too modest. But The Spectacular Fantastic’s Avalanche Lane release was among the best of 2009. Detmer packs more ideas into 15 minutes than most artists do on three albums.

Go check it out HERE.

I really want to love the Polvo album but the mixes sound so crushed, it like listening to a sine wave. I think the songs sound great, but back off the compression!
